ELLE, previously known as Oopsy Daisy, has been on the streets of New York for approximately two years. Initially inspired by her fellow apartment mates- city rats- her style has since developed into more of a dreamscape. Nearly all of her images are hand drawn and painted, with a vibrant palate of black, white, pink and lavender with touches of glitter and gold. Characters, mostly woman, grace the walls of the city- clad in their various attire. She explores the female figure and it's search for the perfect skin. ELLE's characters slip in and out of tattooed bodies, animals, fur coats and suits, feathers, robes, and costumes. They explore the struggle of the woman to find a skin (both literally and figuratively) in which she is comfortable and at peace. Her art resides on walls around New York from Chelsea to LES to Bushwick, Brooklyn. ELLE’s work has been shown in various locations around New York City including Leo Kesting Gallery, Fountain Art Fair, and Gallery Bar and has been published in the book Street Art New York (2010). Most recently ELLE was part of the Flashlight/ Nuit Blanch project, which projected one of her wheatpastes 176’ tall onto the façade of the New Museum in a lineup including Vito Acconci, Marilyn Minter, READ MORE and Mia Pearlman. ELLE has continued to work within the studio as a freelance artist and designer, as well as on the streets.
